Hi, I’m Ashley, owner of Third Dye Design! Although I wasn't born here (I'm a Charleston, SC native!), I'm proud to call the Pacific Northwest home! My focus is hand-dyed home décor, including bedding, tapestries curtains and apparel for adults and children. I also do custom orders upon request. I’ve recently begun hand-dyeing yarn to market to other crafters! The tie-dye art I create is done using professional-grade, low-impact, fiber-reactive dyes that come in a vast array of vibrant, long-lasting colors. Almost all of the dyes I use come from Dharma! I learned color theory and composition from formal art classes taken in and after high school. I also gained hands-on experience using color theory and design working as a professional cosmetologist.
My primary inspiration comes from psychedelic art and concepts. I enjoy creating beautiful art that blooms from intangible imagery and ineffable ideas.
I got started tie-dyeing like many others, just by buying a little kit from Michael’s one day got me hooked. In just a few short months, I tie-dyed enough stuff to call it “inventory” and opened up my Etsy shop. I have signed up for several craft shows and have a few under my belt, already. I am single-handedly building my business. I’ve learned all about what’s expected of me, legally, researching how to market my brand with things like SEO and social media, put 150 items up for sale in my Etsy shop, created a logo and brand image, all of it. I still have a lot of work to do and a lot of growing to do but for a one-woman show, I think I’ve done a good job!
When I’m not busy tie-dyeing anything I can wrap my sinew around, I love taking care of my two dogs, working on cars, and mowing the lawn.
